Building on the 2019 Kyogle International Womens’ Day and Small Business week events, women in the Kyogle Local Government Area are invited to apply for THE Seed Scheme. This innovative program is delivered online over 12 months and supports rural women to start an enterprise, launch a big idea, get a business up and running or further develop an existing business.

The first eight weeks is a foundational course where women will be taken through a series of online training focused on providing the first principles of business including - the business purpose, mission, vision, ideal customers, marketing & sales, business management, people & culture and business planning. There are additional videos and downloadable templates included in the course and further study to support a deeper understanding for those who are wanting or needing it.

Supported by THE Rural Woman - THE seed Scheme is enabling the development of 700 rurally based, women-led enterprises nationwide, injecting $17.5 million or more into the rural economy and returning enormous social value to the participating Members, Partners and their communities. Launched in 2015, by Founder Rebel Black, THE Rural Woman’s head office is located in the outback opal mining town of Lightning Ridge, NSW.  The business has a team of 15 across Australia and Asia including some of Australia's leading advisors, mentors and coaches, administrative, tech and training consultants.

“Kyogle Council is proudly sponsoring a POD of thirty women from across the Kyogle Local Government Area to support each other and start or grow their businesses by participating in an 8-week business intensive which starts on Thursday 23 July at noon” said Mayor Danielle Mulholland. “The program is delivered online – and where opportunities arise Council will bring the participants together to make the most of this great program and for face to face, in community conversations.  When a Rural Woman is a success in her business, then she not only creates an additional income stream for herself and her family, she gains in confidence. Which is something we all need at the moment.“

Members receive support including:

  • Weekly LIVE online mentoring and training in business and technology
  • Access to a dedicated POD Facilitator who will engage with the women and support them to connect and develop a local support network
  • A private social network connecting them to hundreds of rural women nationally
  • 24/7 access to hundreds of hours of recorded trainings in marketing, sales, financial management, product development, events, social media, mindset and business
